I think your son is narcoleptic!

"I think your son is narcoleptic"- that's how I greeted Nick when he came home on Tuesday.  Everyone said that newborns sleep all the time, but I think that he sleeps more now at 10 weeks than he did when we first brought him home.  Owen has been sleeping ~10-12 hours at night with only one night feeding recently, about 7-8 hours in.  No complaints from this momma (well except that the milk factory hasn't really adjusted to this new trend)!  Our daytime routine has changed slightly due to his change in bedtime sleeping.  He used to be on a fairly consistent 3-hour cycle of eating, playing for about an hour, and then sleeping for about 1.5 hours.  Now his cycles are more of 2-2.5 hours with shorter naps.  We feel a little busier during the day, but I am enjoying the sleep at night.  Nick is pretty confused by all of this, as I am going back to bed when his alarm is going off.

Please enjoy some pictures of our sleeping baby:

Passed out in the bouncer while we ate dinner...

We had an interesting struggle this week.  As soon as my work schedule came out, Owen decided that he didn't like bottles anymore.  Talk about adding stress onto an already stressful situation.  Our bedtime routine had been working really well.  I would pump, and Nick would feed Owen a bottle until he fell into a milk-induced coma.  Then, whammy!  Talk about an angry baby!  Nick and Owen would have a stand off, and eventually Owen would eat about 1.5-2 ounces.  Not enough, especially right before bed (we were not sleeping 7-8 hour stretches on those nights)!  Apparently, when babies are 0-2 months old, they really don't care where the food comes from as long as they get it.  Then when they hit 2 months old, they become more self aware... and hate the bottle. We were ready to try anything.  I was almost at Target buying any bottle I could, but our friend Kathie (who is a lactation consultant at Meriter) was a lifesaver and talked us out of rushing out and investing in a million bottles.  On Sunday night, we tried to have Nick give Owen a bottle for both the bedtime and middle of the night feedings.  If he is really hungry, he'll eat.  Right?  BAD IDEA!  Nick was so nervous about having to respond to the baby monitor that he turned the volume way up.  Neither of us slept very well that night (babies are NOISY sleepers)!  We were both pretty sassy to each other the next morning.  But by the time Nick came home from work, we had cooled off.  And Owen took a full bottle that evening.  Not according to any of the suggestions:
1. Have someone other than mom feed the baby- Mom gave the bottle
2. Don't hold the baby in the cradle hold- Held in the cradle hold
3. Don't do it where the baby is usually breastfed- Sitting in the exact same spot
Well, at least he won't starve at daycare!

Here is a website that we found useful (in case anyone else is desperate):

Here is the info sheet from Kathie (with Craig's suggestions at the bottom):
"Paul Ryan seems to like babies.  Ask him."

What else did we do this week?

We did tummy time (Owen usually rolls over as soon as I put him on his tummy, but recently he has been propping himself up more):
Looking at his reflection in the cool toy from Grandma and Grandpa Gnadt!
We played in the jungle:

We checked mom's email:

We played with "G" the giraffe:

 We practiced propping:

We had playdates with the Twiegs and the Kandikos:
