11 months!

Owen is 11 months old!  Crazy!  Best buddy Mason is already a year!  The Twieg boys will be a year old this week!

Stop growing up so fast!

11 month stats:
  • Rocking the 9 month clothes!
  • Eating like a champ- bottles are going way better after tubes!  Owen eats all 3 meals with us and gets 4-5 bottles a day still.  His favorite foods include: yogurt, tacos, beef stroganoff, and those super expensive food pouches (because he can hold them and feed himself). We bought some reusable ones that we fill with cheap Gerber baby food... EZ Squeezees
  • Loves to get up and cuddle with mom and dad in the middle of the night... cue "Cry it out" again.  Hopefully, it will stick this time.  Every other time, it will work for a few nights until he got sick again... but the tubes should help!
  • Crawls... everywhere!  I am pretty sure I need more babygates...
  • Walks... a few steps.  Think drunken' sailor on the rough seas and you'll get the picture.
  • Has no words yet... He babbles a lot and may have said "cat" yesterday, but who knows.  I blame the ear infections for his not having any words.  He can sign the word "fan"
  • Favorite things: fans, birds, cats, dogs, stuffed giraffe from Nora Delancey (he points to it from his crib), toy balls

9 months... and 10 months, since I have put this off that long...

I know you just want pictures... so I will keep it short!

Here were Owen's 9 month stats:
Height: 26 inches (0%)
Weight: 15 lb, 12 ounces (2%)

Yup, he fell off his growth curve.  The boy doesn't like to eat when he is sick (see posts about norovirus, bronchiolitis aka darth vader wheezing, and the two horrible colds we've all had in the past month)! And he has had an ear infection since the beginning of March (see our prescriptions for amoxicillin, cefdinir, augmentin, ceftriaxone).  We've been putting some formula into the milk in his bottles to make it more calories.  And it's been working.  The boy gained 2 pounds in a month.

Owen has continued to be a man on the move.  He is crawling everywhere!  His favorite activities include chasing Amos, playing with the cat food, playing with the curtains, trying to get into the litterbox... yup, just about everything he shouldn't be playing with.  I am a little scared for when he turns 2!

He is pulling up on everything!  He loves his walk-behind toys!  He can even crawl up the stairs... he didn't get the memo that he is too small for that!

Besides being a man on the move, we haven't done much here.  Nick and I worked nearly every weekend, so we had some help from Grandma Char a couple of times.  Otherwise, we've been trying to heal our sick little monkey man!

Other exciting things... Owen is getting tubes next week.  Hopefully, he will feel better after that!

8 months!

So much has happened since my last post!  But again the time flew by and here we are, a month later.  Yesterday, at Ash Wednesday Mass, the theme was "Life is short.  Stay awake for it."  So in addition to feeling like I am going to need to drink more coffee, it is a good reminder to continue living in the moment, no matter how hectic that moment is.

I think the last time I wrote a post, we were just finishing getting our new fireplace.  Well, today we got half of our new furniture!  We are still waiting for our sofa to come in, but at least we won't be sitting on the floor anymore.  Our family room is once again looking like a family room and less like Owen's personal play space, although it worked out well!

Speaking of Owen's personal play space... guess who learned to crawl... while at daycare... while Nick was out of town?  Yup, that's right... Owen did!  And he hasn't looked back!  He is a little guy on the move, mostly chasing Amos around the house.  His favorite toy... Amos.  His second favorite toy... Amos's food.  His third favorite... outlets.  Of course.  Nick is trying to teach him to walk.  I am far from amused just trying to live in the moment and enjoy the crawling.

When Owen learned to walk, he also decided that he needed to eat more.  He is trying so hard to be big, but he is still only ~15 pounds... but teething and having a billion colds this year probably isn't helping!  Day care asked us to increase his solids since he was hungry so we did!  He now eats 3 big boy meals (mostly a fruit/veggie puree with either oatmeal+milk or yogurt).  The boy loves yogurt... and bananas... and sweet potatoes... and avocado.  Our new experiment is puffs.  He can't quite get them into his mouth since he hasn't mastered the pincher grasp, so he likes to hold them in his fist and then suck his thumb.  A for effort, I guess.  We are also working on using a sippy cup with water during meals.  He is just starting to figure it out (aka soggy mess).

In other news, we are also getting a new furnace and A/C unit today.  Ours decided to break while Nick was on an airplane home from his work trip.  We thought we just needed to replace a part (high limit switch), but a week later, our date got cut short when the furnace went out again.  It kept overheating.  That's what you get with a Carrier.  This time, after Nick shopped around, we went with a hometown Trane.  Thanks, Dad, for the family discount.
