So much has happened since my last post! But again the time flew by and here we are, a month later. Yesterday, at Ash Wednesday Mass, the theme was "Life is short. Stay awake for it." So in addition to feeling like I am going to need to drink more coffee, it is a good reminder to continue living in the moment, no matter how hectic that moment is.
I think the last time I wrote a post, we were just finishing getting our new fireplace. Well, today we got half of our new furniture! We are still waiting for our sofa to come in, but at least we won't be sitting on the floor anymore. Our family room is once again looking like a family room and less like Owen's personal play space, although it worked out well!
Speaking of Owen's personal play space... guess who learned to crawl... while at daycare... while Nick was out of town? Yup, that's right... Owen did! And he hasn't looked back! He is a little guy on the move, mostly chasing Amos around the house. His favorite toy... Amos. His second favorite toy... Amos's food. His third favorite... outlets. Of course. Nick is trying to teach him to walk. I am
far from amused just trying to live in the moment and enjoy the crawling.
When Owen learned to walk, he also decided that he needed to eat more. He is trying so hard to be big, but he is still only ~15 pounds... but teething and having a billion colds this year probably isn't helping! Day care asked us to increase his solids since he was hungry so we did! He now eats 3 big boy meals (mostly a fruit/veggie puree with either oatmeal+milk or yogurt). The boy loves yogurt... and bananas... and sweet potatoes... and avocado. Our new experiment is puffs. He can't quite get them into his mouth since he hasn't mastered the pincher grasp, so he likes to hold them in his fist and then suck his thumb. A for effort, I guess. We are also working on using a sippy cup with water during meals. He is just starting to figure it out (aka soggy mess).
In other news, we are also getting a new furnace and A/C unit today. Ours decided to break while Nick was on an airplane home from his work trip. We thought we just needed to replace a part (high limit switch), but a week later, our date got cut short when the furnace went out again. It kept overheating. That's what you get with a Carrier. This time, after Nick shopped around, we went with a hometown Trane. Thanks, Dad, for the family discount.
